Sami Rasouli will give an update from Iraq on Thursday, May 31 at 7 pm at the Church of St. Albert the Great, 2836 33rd Avenue South in Minneapolis.
Sami Rasouli is an Iraqi-American who lived in Minnesota for many years before returning to Iraq after the 2003 U.S. invasion. Sami works in Iraq with the Muslim Peacemakers Team (MPT), a group dedicated to the principles of nonviolence. He returns to the U.S. for a period of time every year to help build bridges between the people of the United States and the people of Iraq.
Sami will share his experiences in Iraq, his insights into the current turmoil there, the role of the U.S. in Iraq today, and the aspirations, hopes and dreams of ordinary Iraqi people. He will also talk about the Muslim Peacemaker Teams “English for Reconciliation” project and invite Americans to travel to his home city of Najaf to participate in this innovative program.
