What Would Debs Do?

  • Mayday Books 301 Cedar Avenue Minneapolis, MN, 55454 United States (map)

Join Twin Cities Socialist Action for a talk entitled “What Would Debs Do?”, examining the life and thought of Eugene B. Debs, on Thursday, November 15 from 7 to 10 pm at Mayday Books, 301 Cedar Ave on the West Bank in Minneapolis.

Speaker: Dave Riehle, Veteran Trade Unionist and Socialist.

Eugene Debs: "A party in this later day of our industrial and social development is either a capitalist party or it is a labor party. It is one or the other. It cannot be both."

Debs also said: "I am not a capitalist soldier. I am a proletarian revolutionist. I do not belong to the regular army of the plutocracy but to the irregular army of the people. I refuse to obey any command to fight from the ruling class. But I will not wait to be commanded to fight for the working class. I am opposed to every war but one; I am for that war with heart and soul, and that is the world-wide war of social revolution. In that war I am prepared to fight in any way the ruling class may make necessary, even to the barricades."
